because that's what
a once-in-a-lifetime day calls for?
Since 2008, I have been helping adventurous couples make meaningful memories in places that inspire them.
I got my first camera when I was 9 years old, a Vivitar point and shoot. It came with a small roll of film. Every shot had to be intentional. In 2006 I took a pocket camera with me on a trip to Morocco. I loved taking every photo and loved how they turned out too. And I loved sharing them with people. That’s how my first bride discovered me–sharing those photos at an art sale in Oaxaca. By May of 2008, I was shooting my first wedding–hers–and I never looked back.
What fires my creativity is the trust my clients place in me.
Being entrusted with documenting their personalities, carefully chosen details, and enthusiastic family and friends celebrating their love–I loved every part of doing that for them. Their day went just how they envisioned it. It was not the kind of day someone else pressured them to have, or the ordinary day everyone else was settling for.
I am here to help you do the same.

I have to express my thanks for the work you provided us with, because it demonstrates such a high level of quality and professionalism in the uniqueness of the photography, but above all for making us feel at ease, in front of your camera with your charisma and unpretentiousness we could share the magic, chemistry and happiness of our love.
You became part of the atmosphere that enveloped us. How could someone like me, so uncomfortable in front of the camera, feel such trust with someone I’ve just met as if you were a life-long friend?

Douglas,
I wanted to tell you how happy we are with our wedding photos. It was a very complicated event, with the open-air ceremony, the calenda, and the reception, but we think you captured it all in an excellent way.
We’ve shown the album to our friends with great response. Everyone’s admired it.
Thanks for everything. We’re very happy to have chosen you and if you need a reference, please, use us.

…exploring new cafés (did I say cafés??? I meant … places! all kinds of places! places in different places!) with my family. Here we are on the wooden bridge going over the railroad tracks in my hometown in Illinois. Growing up we’d take the family car over this old fire-damaged relic. And it was a one-lane bridge with two-way traffic! You had to get to the top first – and there was no way to see if anyone was coming up the other side. Always an adventure! Now it’s a quaint walking bridge closed to vehicles. My wife and kids were all born and raised in Oaxaca, so I am really happy whenever I can show them little pieces of my childhood like this in person.
Otherwise, I enjoy living in Oaxaca as much or more than they do.
My first few months living in Oaxaca, I’d get homesick for typical food like homemade chili and chocolate chip cookies. But soon my hometown tastes were completely replaced by the memelas, tacos, quesadillas, pan de yema, hot chocolate, and mole of Oaxaca.
While I love to travel and always take my camera on every trip, as a photographer I can’t get enough of Oaxaca. Color, texture, mood in every scene. Layers of history everywhere you look. A land of harmony and contradiction. I wonder if I would even be a photographer if I didn’t live in Oaxaca – that’s how visually engrossed in it I am.
I am grateful for the following awards and features that have honored my work over the years.
The first time I had the chance to capture a wedding day, May 31st, 2008, I was overcome with excitement. It combined every kind of photography I loved–portrait, documentary, architecture–and all the details.
I loved knowing how much the bride and groom trusted me with every moment of their day.
From that day on, I have been driven by the same wide-eyed enthusiasm and the desire to honor the trust my couples place in me. This is what grounds me in the source of my creativity–and my sense of integrity, too.
