El Cardenal Oaxaca Wedding: Anneka + Alejandro

Anneka and Alejandro were married in the church of Santo Domingo, and their reception was at El Cardenal, a short walk up Calle Alcalá. Before the ceremony we made portraits around the city: a yellow wall lined with potted agaves, a pair of blue doors, and a street hung with papel picado.

El Cardenal has a big open space in the middle and several smaller rooms around it, each with its own look. The backlit bar became a mezcal mixology station, and the guests kept coming back to it. There were cold sparks for the first dance, and later the guests threw Alejandro in the air.
