Hotel Quinta Real Oaxaca Wedding Venue

The Hotel Quinta Real is the classic Oaxaca venue for intimate to medium weddings. It’s in the Centro Histórico, a few blocks from Santo Domingo, and it was originally a convent: cantera stone walls, archways, courtyards, a terrace and pool, a chapel, and the famous lavaderos, the stone basins where the nuns washed their clothes and linens.

Some couples hold the whole wedding here, with the ceremony at the lavaderos, cocktail hour by the pool, and the reception in the chapel. Others get ready and marry here, then walk over to the Jardín Etnobotánico for portraits, or follow a calenda through the Centro to a reception somewhere else. These are the weddings I’ve photographed at the Quinta Real.

Mariana + Eduardo

Mariana and Eduardo were married at Los Lavaderos. Then a calenda with monos and a brass band filled the streets of the Centro, and the reception was at La Fábrica Patio.

Sylvana + Felipe

Sylvana and Felipe got ready at the Quinta Real, where the bridesmaids wore matching floral robes, and the ceremony was here too, with readings and a sand ceremony. Formals and the reception were at the Jardín Etnobotánico.

Margoth + Isaac

Margoth and Isaac’s day started at the Quinta Real and moved to the Jardín Etnobotánico for portraits by the reflection pools and the cactus wall. See Margoth and Isaac’s wedding.

Meredith + Jaime

Meredith and Jaime wanted no posed formals, so I photographed their day purely as it happened. One of my favorite moments was Meredith’s mom helping her get ready, sitting in a hotel window with golden light coming through. See Meredith and Jaime’s wedding.

Danielle + José

Danielle and José’s wedding included the Quinta Real, the Jardín Etnobotánico and a ceremony at Santo Domingo. See Danielle and José’s wedding.
